School Supplies You Need For Your First Year At College

If you are heading into your first year at college, you might be feeling nervous and excited. You are going away from home for the first time and are going to have to be more responsible than ever in order to get the job done. One thing that you are going to need to be responsible for is making sure that your schoolwork does not suffer. You are going to need to stay on top of all of your assignments and get all of your work done if you are going to pass your classes. One way to make this easier is to have the right school supplies. Here are some of the school supplies that you need for your first year at college.

1. Invest in Colored Ink Cartridges

If you are taking science classes, there's a good chance that you're going to need to print out graphs and charts for a display board for your senior project or for some other project. If you are a design major, you might want to print out colored items for your portfolio. Regardless of your major, you might find yourself in a situation where you need to print color. The problem is that some colleges don't allow their students to print color and will only allow them to print black and white copies unless they bring their own ink cartridges. It is going to be cheaper for you to bring your own cartridges than for you to go to a printing service. You could contact your roommates and coordinate splitting the cost of the cartridges and sharing them all year.

2. Bring a Keyboard You Can Actually Type on Comfortably

The next thing that you might want to consider bringing is an ergometric keyboard. This is a special type of keyboard that is made out of more flexible materials and is a rounded shape that is designed to let you type more easily without any pain. If you are in a class where you will often be typing, such as English for papers and computer science for programming, consider bringing a keyboard in addition to the keyboard your laptop comes with. You might find that the laptop keyboard gets uncomfortable quickly.

3. Get a Stapler

If you are going to be needing to take any writing classes that could result in your turning in papers, you are going to need a stapler. Professors often like you to submit a hard copy of your work and won't accept it not stapled. Don't be the kid that goes around your dorm asking for a stapler. Be the kid that has a stapler.
